1suggest の4つの用法

本質
suggestは「提案する」「示唆する」という意味で、4つの主要な用法がある：
① suggest + that節（仮定法現在）
② suggest + doing
③ suggest + 名詞
④ suggest（that）～（単純な示唆）
ネイティブ感覚
suggestは「軽く提案する」「それとなく示す」というイメージ。強制ではなく、相手の判断に委ねるニュアンスがある。だからこそ仮定法現在（should省略）を使って「～してはどうか」という控えめな提案を表現する。

2remind の語法

本質
remindは「思い出させる」という意味で、主に3つの構文がある：
① remind A of B（AにBを思い出させる）
② remind A to do（Aに～するよう思い出させる）
③ remind A that～（Aに～ということを思い出させる）
ネイティブ感覚
remindは「re-（再び）+ mind（心に留める）」＝「再び心に呼び戻す」というイメージ。忘れていたり、意識していなかったことを「あ、そうだった」と思い出させる感覚。

remind A of BAにBを思い出させるThis song reminds me of my childhood.
remind A to doAに～することを思い出させるPlease remind me to call him.
remind A that～Aに～ということを思い出させるI reminded him that the meeting was at 3.

The alarm clock reminded him that it was time to get up.
目覚まし時計が起きる時間だと彼に知らせた。
入試のコツ
「remind A of B」と「remember」を混同しないこと。remindは「他者に思い出させる」、rememberは「自分で思い出す」。また、「remind A to do」では必ず人が目的語になることに注意。

3appreciate の語法

本質
appreciateは「感謝する」「正しく評価する」という意味で、主な用法は：
① appreciate + 名詞/動名詞
② appreciate + it + if/when節
③ appreciate + that節（理解する）
ネイティブ感覚
appreciateの語源は「価値を正しく判断する」。単なる「thank you」より深く、相手の行為や状況の価値を理解した上での感謝や評価を表す。だから具体的な行為（名詞・動名詞）と相性が良い。

appreciate + 名詞/doing～を感謝するI appreciate your help.
appreciate + it + if節～していただけるとありがたいI'd appreciate it if you could help.
appreciate + that節～ということを理解するI appreciate that you're busy.

I really appreciate your helping me with this project.

I would appreciate it if you could reply by Friday.

注意：appreciateも「人 + to不定詞」の形を取らない！
